To the supporters of Médecins du Monde

Thank you for always supporting our activities.
In light of the global pandemic of the new coronavirus, all missions of Operation Smile 2020 (plastic surgery project for people who do not have access to surgery or treatment) have been cancelled.
We had planned missions in Myanmar and Bangladesh this year, but we decided to cancel them after discussing with local organizations and medical volunteers while paying close attention to the local situation, movement restrictions, and infection status.
In addition to restrictions on movement, it is unavoidable to give priority to the safety and health of medical personnel who perform surgeries, local personnel, patients undergoing surgeries and their families, and to reduce the burden on local medical institutions.

In both Bangladesh and Myanmar, there are many patients in need of surgery hence the waiting period is considerable.
We hope that the mission will be resumed as soon as possible.
